How to Enable Shutdown Confirmation in HyperOS & MIUI Devices

The Shutdown Confirmation is already used on Xiaomi phones, based on the MIUI 12.5 update. It’s one of the most useful security features that Xiaomi has introduced. It helps protect your privacy when you lose or miss your phone somewhere. It’s quite an impressive feature of Xiaomi and is vital to recovering phone theft. Here’s how to Enable Shutdown Confirmation on HyperOS & MIUI Devices.

Shutdown confirmation is a new security feature of Xiaomi that helps to protect your phone from being powered off. With this update in HyperOS, Xiaomi has introduced this powerful feature, which is useful when you have lost your phone and want to protect it from unwanted access.

Also, this feature helps you secure your phone’s data and prevent theft by requiring you to turn off your phone to reduce location access. With this process, the device asks you to enter a pattern or PIN at first to turn off the phone.

What is Shutdown Confirmation on Xiaomi

‘Shutdown Confirmation’ in Xiaomi is a new useful security feature that helps prevent your phone from being powered off. After turning on this feature, when you try to switch off your smartphone, either accidentally or intentionally, it will ask you to enter the lock screen password to restart or power off your phone. So, in this case, it will act as a defender to protect your phone from unusual access from other users.

This feature is fruitful when someone tries to turn it off. So, this new HyperOS Update is more realistic and useful regarding security features and protection.

The Prime use of Shutdown Confirmation Features

The core feature of this feature in your Xiaomi phone is to prevent your phone from being powered off due to unauthorized access. The thief used to turn off the phone so it couldn’t get any network access, making it unreachable.

How to Enable Shutdown Confirmation in Xiaomi HyperOS & MIUI Devices

This feature only applies to the Chinese ROMs, including the Stable or Beta version of any Global ROMs. Also, we’ve noticed this feature is available only on premium and flagship phones. This feature is not available in lower-end and budget phones.

  • Go to the Settings app on your phone,
  • Scroll down and tap on the Privacy & Security option there,
Enable Shutdown Confirmation in HyperOS
  • Now go to the Security tab,
  • Tap on the Shutdown Confirmation option there,
  • Under Shutdown confirmation, toggle it right to turn it on.
Enable Shutdown Confirmation in HyperOS
  • Now enter your current phone’s password (Lockscreen security password) (if),
  • That’s it.

Now, after enabling this feature, it will ask the users (you and anyone using this phone) to enter the lock screen password every time they turn off or restart the phone. Only the phone will restart or turn off after entering the password on the lock screen.

Also, as we said, this feature is only partially rolled out to some HyperOS Devices and region-based ROMs. So, if you can’t find such features on your phone, you have to wait for it, and then let’s see.
